Hi folks,

Looking for a new front door for our mid-ladder house. Interested in leaded glass and probably some secondary glazing to keep the cold at bay. Anyone got any recommendations? I've got a quote from the London Door Company but it made my eyes water a little.

Cheers,

I'm doing up my house on the ladder, where the last owner threw away the original Victorian fireplaces some years ago.

I'm refurbishing the house and I want to replace the fireplaces with like-for-like, reclaimed ones rather than copies. Inconveniently, I want a similar or matching pair for my through living room/dining room.

Does anyone else have any reasonably local recommendations where we might be able to get a similar or matching pair of fireplaces? The date of our house, by the way, is around 1870ish, I think.

Any suggestions gratefully received.
What does a traditional Harringay front door look like?tag:harringayonline.com,2012-08-15:844301:Topic:3976402012-08-15T21:52:04.204ZNick G-Thttps://harringayonline.com/profile/NicholasGriffinTorrington

Does anyone know whether there is a traditional Harringay front door? With so many different styles of homes on the Ladder, and many of their doors being replaced, I'm having difficulty deciding on a style for my new front door. Would Maggie's have been common to the area (3 small panels at the top two larger ones at the bottom) or were the two long panelled doors equally as common?

Also, can anyone advise me of their experiences in locating a reclaimed door similar to Maggie's and having it fitted or was it difficult (and likely very expensive) to source one and perhaps ended up going to a joiner to have one made? Could anyone recommend a joiner for this task?
Hello,

Does anyone know where you can get reclaimed stair spindles? We are renovating our staircase and in stripping off layers of paint have discovered that at least 18 of the original spindles are missing.

The wood appears to be quite dark and I can't find the spindle design anywhere online at any of the companies promising to reproduce spindles.

Does anyone know:

1) The name of this spindle design;

Any help appreciated! I've put a picture of the spindles we've just stripped (the wood ones) alongside the later additions (still painted).

Thanks

Does anyone know where we might find a replacement / reclaimed front door with the familiar - and i assume original - harringay features (3 top and bottom panels with 2 glass panels in the middle)? You know the kind...

Despite looking around locally at various specialists, joiners and traders, we've not found anything like it yet. Has anyone replaced their own front door for an original that can give us some leads?
