Has anyone had double glazing installed by Crystal Windows and do they have any feedback? Or any other companies they would recommend? We're considering PVC or wooden casement windows, though suspect wood will be out of our price range.

Hi

I live in a ground floor one bed flat with lounge access to garden via double glazed doors. 2 days ago the doors (open a lot daytime in this hot weather) stopped closing. The doors were put in by previous owner - I've lived here for 12 years, I've no idea who installed.

This is a huge security issue for me as I'm often alone here … now anyone, if they climbed over the back fence (at night) could just open the doors and walk in.

Last night, feeling quite nervous, I locked myself in the bedroom. Had to lock the cat out so he can come and go and use the cat flap..

I've called the guy in Enfield (recommended on this site - Bee and something?) who said he'd call round yesterday afternoon as he was 'doing jobs in the area'. He never turned up. Nor has he answered his phone ever since.

I called the one in Barnet - I found them unhelpful and unsympathetic. They don't do repairs unless they actually installed the double glazing … I don't know who installed it or how long ago. So they said sorry cant help.

A guy I use for handyman jobs tried to fix, he thinks hinges need adjusting - but it requires an 'Imperial' alum key which he didn't have handy - also he is flat out busy, so it was kind of him to look.

Anyone got any suggestions other than the above. I need help and fast - but not at any price ... limited funds.
Recommendation for Oakwood Windowstag:harringayonline.com,2018-03-10:844301:Topic:10650072018-03-10T17:38:56.238ZEMC2https://harringayonline.com/profile/E290

I recently needed two small windows replaced with double glazed units and looked to HOL fans for recommends. I contacted a few companies that were recommended. It's really a small job so was not surprised that only one company called me back... Ames on Lordship Lane. They have now finished the job and I can say I am very pleased. The work has been finished to a high standard, even the render surround has been pebbledashed to match the existing.
