Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

I'm thinking either Family Sunday afternoon or Grown up down t'pub evening..(or who knows, both even)

We are a small family who like board games-(me plus 10yr old boy & 15 yr old girl). Current favourites are Forbidden island, Carcassonne, card games-(in general, but poo head perennial warm up), and some other new ones like Love letter and Pandemic. I'm by no means an expert in board games, just a enjoy them- and am amazed at the number of new and interesting ones that keep cropping up so always keen to try out other peoples. My kids also like Dragonology and Ticket to Ride. It's an eclectic mix!

The only game i have to say i'm really not keen on is monopoly (I just think it brings out the worst in people).

Basically, if I can sort out a lazy sunday afternoon time/venue are there folks who'd like to meet up and bring their games, & we'll bring ours for a bit of a session? I thought a Sunday afternoon family friendly meet up, but it could be mixed ages if you don't mind mixing it with the younger brigade.

I'm quite happy to do any logistical sorting but also to relinquish that to others if you have suggestions about venues etc.

If you like the idea but not the family type element and feel perhaps an adult only evening at the pub with a few games sounds great- please do also reply, i'd be up for that too..

happy noodling..

hi,

i would love to come especially if there are some belotte player, french card game or dominos.

tonie

I know this thread is long since dead but I thought I'd reply before post I something similar.

I've recently been getting back in to boardgames and fancy some local gaming, did anything come of this thread?

Would love to come and join !

I think Bun&Bar, on green lane, is organising something like that.

We received a few new games for xmas that we need to try !

I just bought this bad boy ...

Betrayal at House on the Hill https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B003HC9734/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_tai_MVOCybWVV...

.. And the latest from the team that made pandemonium.

I have both Forbidden Island, and Forbidden Desert. Both Co-op games. Whilst fun, they can quickly shift to "one person knowing what they're doing, so running everyone elses turns".

A new one I've found thats absolutely amazing for Co-Op is "Mysterium"

Its like a cross between Dixit and Cluedo, and if you've not played Dixit, then shame on you :)

Basically one player plays a murdered ghost, and is trying to communicate to the players through visions. these visions are basically picture cards. They use these cards to identify who was present on the night of the murder, and providing all parties present are identified, then the ghost can then give clues as to who the murderer was.

Its loved by pretty much everyone I've played it with.

Board Games are still run on the last Sunday of every month at 'The Big Green Bookshop' on Wood Green High street. BGB

I wont be there this month, but they're a friendly bunch and always welcome drop ins/new friends.

Casper have you played 'dead of winter' ?

Its part of my wall of Games.

hI,

I am very interested with this group. I love playing board games. So let me know when and where it is happening.

I play card games (belotte), rami. I play dominos and any other games. Let me know.

Thanks
