Mayor Boris Johnson is facing accusations of “trying to have it both ways” after his official promotions agency set out plans to market homes to ‘high net worth’ Chinese buyers despite his own pledge to put Londoners first.
The latest London & Partners business plan sets out proposals “to develop long term relationships with high net worth individuals (HNWIs) from fast growing, emerging markets by providing a range of services which encourage them to visit, invest, study and spend in London.” That's 10 to 50million loose cash, net, per individual.

One thing that has emerged about all this selling off-plan - sales are embargoed to a particular date. But as the East wakes up before we do, they have several hours before buyers here can bid. 2/3 of London homes are bought by foreigners now. Expect this to rise.
This is the London Plan we are stuck with, and that LBH is being forced to accept. 10000 new builds in Tottenham in the immediate future, nearly all going to BTL landlords who won't be paying any UK tax. Another million people to move to London in the next decade.
Can we do a Ukraine? If all the London councils say No, what will happen?

Last year I went in the Berkeley sales office at Woodberry Down at 9am on the day that they released their stage two apartments (off plan). I asked what was available. The saleswoman wanted to know how much money I had but as I asked first I pushed my point. All the good ones were gone. I asked how could that be given that I was in the office at 9am on the day that they were released. They were released at 9am local time in Hong Kong and Singapore too.
