Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Hi,

We are just at the beginning of a renovation project and are looking for some ideally slim framed, dark grey or black bifold doors for our back room leading onto the garden 2630wx2120h  .

Does anyone have any recommendations/words of caution ?

Thanks!

I used these people Folding Sliding Door Company

The doors have lasted well over 11 years

The aluminium ones last longer than the wooden ones...
IDS systems. Excellent quality and excellent post install care. I called them out twice over two years (minor issues with door catching, once soon after install once a year later) both dealt with really quickly and efficiently with no additional charge. Really good customer service. In summary excellent product, and excellent after care. Was worth the additional price. Thanks.
Do you mean ID Systems? Thanks
Yes I do. ID systems. Thanks

Also - they have standard colours, but bespoke ones too if like me you are super fussy about the precise shade of grey and finish you want. Not cheap though. There are lots of other good options which are more reasonably priced.

I suggest you pay attention to the handles too. I didn't want a traditional horizontal handle as visually it would interrupt the frame of the glass (really fussy) but my handle might not suit everyone. Also pay attention to whether a flush finish with the floor is possible, if that is what you are after. Many seemed to me to leave a small ridge, whereas I wanted as flush as possible with the inside floor and decking outside. Some companies will do wider glazing that others, so think about that depending on the size of your opening. And think about how many doors you want and whether you want a traffic door.

The building design centre (or something like that) off Tottenham Court Road has some company exhibit stands in the basement so you could go and get a feel for a few options. I spent a day at the Grand Designs show just looking at doors and roof lights, which was invaluable.

Good luck.

we used these which were a great deal cheaper than other makes and so far so good (after 5 years)

thanks for all the advice- this is all great!

Hi Leanne

We had Schueco bifold doors installed and supplied by:
Bi-Fold Door Factory Ltd - http://www.bifolddoorfactory.co.uk/

You are welcome to pop down the road and take a look at ours.  Ours measured 2663wx2305h so pretty much the same.
