Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Bomb the Ladder aka join us for a little community gardening this Sunday

We are planning to do a little summer planting at the Warham Road planters on Sunday 1st May at 11am. We want to put some flowers in to keep the colour going. We have some plants but if you have any spare to donate we would appreciate anything for example, geraniums or anything that will add a splash of colour.

We'll be popping some seedlings in too, so if you've got some spare ones, we'd love to have them. If you can bring your own trowel that would be fabulous as I probably won't get time to get to the tool bank in the gardens for equipment this time.

I'd also like to do something on the Ladder for International Sunflower Guerilla Gardening Day - maybe 'bombing' a few of the less loved planters e.g. Mattison Road.

Anyone interested, let me know or come along at 11 on Sunday. Maybe we can steal Transition's idea for a guerilla gardening troop. They suggest bringing

  • Sunflower seeds (although I shall have spare seeds available)
  • A small dibber (a pencil would be ideal for this)
  • A bottle of water (enough for you to drink and to water in the seeds)
  • Your ideas for suitable sites
  • Enthusiasm and a sense of fun

What do you think?

p.s. All welcome!

Fab, I'll be there. Will have a scout around and see what I can find, either for  Warham or elsewhere. Would love to sort out the Mattison Rd ones. Will let you know what I can find.
My family seem to be intent on some royal wiiding tomorrow.

Hi there

i've got some very young banana plants if you want them.  They are hardy in my garden so should do just fine in the centre of the planters.  If you'd like them let me know.  I'm not able to make it on sunday so if you can pick them up mail me and i'll give you my address

messaged you

Many thanks for the plants, Sandra.

See you tomorrow Alison

...and anyone else who wants to join us!

Just a couple of quick pictures for you Sandra of how well the petunias you donated to us are doing in the planters. One of the two banana plants is thriving although the other has had to go to hospital to see if it can recover. I'll get some pictures when its a bit bigger.

Right, have had a scout around. I have a pink geranium plant, some nasturtium seeds, honesty seeds, and a couple of deadnettle plants (might be toomuch of a thug but good and quick ground cover). And an aquilega plant. See you tomorrow.
We'll come along to this, we've got pots of little seedlings that deserve a nice home.

4.15 pm

4 planters in Warham and 2 in Mattison, cleared, composted, planted and seeded. Thanks to Karen for letting us in on Mattison to get water. Watch out for a blog on this when I get my breath back.

In the meantime, if you are reading this and you are on Mattison, please could you water and keep an eye on the planters whenever you think they need a little TLC.

Happy International Sunflower Guerilla Gardening Day all!

This was a great few hours. To see the tangled mess of bindweed that was one of the Mattison Rd planters transformed in just a few hours was really amazing. Look forward to the blog Liz.
I have done a little write up with pictures of the street gardening here
