Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Received letter today.
Police David Lammy Catharine West MP will hold meeting
In response to the 2 shootings, stabbing and AS behaviour generally .
I can't attend but would be good to have rep from here attend and feedback.
I walk past Turnpike tube most evenings- williughby Road end and almost always open drug dealing by usual suspects . Dispersal order I think has been quite ineffective .
Need a more permanent police presence / monitored CCTV in appropriate areas..

Details here.

When they disperse young people from Duckett's Common, they just end up in the passage.

As I understood it, this meeting was organised by the police. That at least is where the invitation I posted the other day originated. I'm surprised therefore to hear that David Lammy is 'holding a meeting'. Is there confusion around or is it political grandstanding?

Whatever the case, the meeting is timely and to be welcomed.

The meeting has been called and organised by the Police.

There are obviously many big issues to talk about so I hope as many people as possible will come even though it is on a Friday evening.

Presumably David Lammy and Catherine West have been invited. Councillors from Harringay, West Green, Noel Park and Hornsey wards have all been invited. I plan to be there.

Zena Brabazon
Cllr, Harringay Ward

Thanks for clearing that up, Zena.

Who is someone? Please no.

Thanks Sonya, not a great time for working people, but hopefully a few locals can turn up

I hope the open smoking and use of drugs in phone boxes and general street begging near and around green lanes station is also mentioned.

The drug dealing/use around Green Lanes station has got radically worse over the last year. For the 20 years I've lived in the area it hasn't been a significant problem, but now I see it all the time.

I don't understand why we don't at least have PCSO's patrolling up and down green lanes... Ive yet to see police on green lanes, other then parked up to buy kebabs or whizzing past with their sirens on.

Is Lammy pretending he still lives on Falkland Road, as in his constituency, even before they activate the new boundaries? Or is it just a sudden fit of nostalgia?  I think Chief Inspector Morrell should arrest him for misrepresentation, gatecrashing, loitering with intent, bandwagon-clambering, and anything else that occurs to her.

How many other large scale market places would you encourage to exist not under CCTV camera's ?
Very postive meeting although I turned up late, there was definitely a good turn out with people passionate about making changes.

Detective Superintendent Des Fahy has pledged to make a difference he is a Londoner and has recently joined the area after having previously being the head of crime for Southwark, and then the community ambassador lead.

I had a good chat with him after and I think he really will try to make a difference.

He can be contacted via Twitter @desfahyMPS

David Lammy spoke and pledged too ensure progress is made in time for the next meeting in 6 months time, and he rightly pointed out that austerity cuts by the torys have slashed community policing initiatives.

Eubert Malcom from harringey head of community safety was also present and provided his email address Eubert.malcom@haringey.gov.uk

Let's keep the pressure on them whilst giving them the support they need to tackle these issues

Thanks for the heads up about this, I highly recommend everyone attend the next one
