Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Thinking about putting our 4 bedroomed house in Lothair Road South on the market, but want a valuation first. Can anyone recommend a good estate agent?

I've actually had good experiences with Bairstowe Eves on Green Lanes Grand Parade, near HGL station. The offices are a bit shabby but they are not too pushy and pretty efficient, I was pleased with the experience.

As a buyer rather than a seller I found Bairstowe Eves a bit of a nightmare.  They insisted on seeing proof that I had money to buy the house before letting me view.  I wasn't really comfortable with showing random estate agents my bank statements (which is what they asked for), so in the end it meant I just didn't view any of their properties.

Thanks Sophie, yes they are already on my list. We actually bought from them, and they were ok. I should have said that we are looking for two others to give valuations before we decide who to appoint.

Steve at Turnpike Lane branch of Castles is top man

Thanks John, I will look at their website.

As someone who has recently bought a house in the area, I have to say that we were mostly impressed with Dimitri from Winkworth. Very proactive with good people skills. Also, Marino from Anthony Pepe was alright, although he was really dramatic when the exchange date had to be pushed a little due to issues with Nationwide. He made so much fuss we almost cancelled our holiday.. only to find out the vendors were on holidays themselves and could not sign anything for another week! Never mind. He got what they wanted which I guess is good for sellers :)

Thanks to everyone for your input. Have decided to get 3 more valuations, as I think Winkworths' may have over-valued, from Castles, Paul Simon and good old Bairstow Eves. Will then make a decision. I will report back in case my experience is of any interest to any one else.

I have to agree with Milda about Dimitri and Winkworths. They were by far the nicest and most professional of all the agents we dealt with when looking to buy in the area. We ended up buying through KFH simply because they had the house we wanted but if I was going to sell I would use Winkworths. Paul Simon were comedy: all have black bmws and call you relentlessly with totally unsuitable houses. I quite liked them though and miss their 10x a day calls.

We actually felt sorry we didn't end up buying through Dimitri as he was by far the best of the lot. Just didn't have 'our' house :)
