Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Is it just me or does Green Lanes seem to be more congested than usual? I'm not aware of anything going on that may cause it. Seems to have been like it for a week or so now.

I saw a bad traffic accident at around 4-45/5pm today involving 4 cars and holding up traffic... may have caused worse congestion.

It's terrible, agree. Could it be any worse if we closed off Wightman Rd? Nope.

Yep, much worse. As you'll be creating a single bottle neck.

Indeed, much much worse.

So bored of hearing about Wightman Rd. You were lucky to have it closed off for as long as it was. The rest of us weren't.

The world's smallest violin for your tears Joe....

And one for your losing battle John

I'm winning, moved to the bottom of the ladder where I am sheltered by the Hermitage and Gardens closures and the only two way street on the ladder. Thanks though.

They're not claims Nick. The numbers are from traffic counters (the kind that count as a vehicle drives over them)

Here's a chart showing counts per hour over 7 days for each of the four points where traffic counters were placed (click to enlarge):

Every location exceeds 1000 vehicles per hour on every day for at least a few hours of the day. On some days some locations exceed 1000p.h. for the whole day.

It depends how you measure them. If you average over 24 hours then the figures will be low. I just walked the length of Wightman at 5pm ( to G&N Garage btw, who did an excellent job once again ) and one vehicle passed me every 5 seconds, or 720 per hour. and that's only in one direction.

I just don't see how it can get much worse. It's gridlock in rush hour. I think Sainsbury's is the culprit as much as the road closures on the east side of Green Lanes.
