Harringay online

Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

I applied to rent a garage from Haringey council.

On their site they claim their garages become available quite frequently.

I tried calling the customer contact centre (020 8489 5611) but it's a nightmare, you're on the phone for ages trying to navigate through the options and eventually even go in a loop, and I couldn't manage to actually speak with anyone and gave up.

Anyone has experience with renting one from the council? How long did you have to wait?

Also, one of the two preferred locations I chose was Cornwall Road but now that I think about it, I can't remember any garages there, any idea?

Thanks.

Been on the waiting list more than a year I would guess...heard  nothing, not holding my breath. Our block (Connaught) had garages removed about 2 years ago to build flats.

I have rented a garage from Haringay in N4 for 20 years , they have put the rent  up 4 times this year , I am now paying £85 a month not sure if this is a lot or average , only problem is they charge the going rates but have no interest in doing anything for the money , the gates Broken and someone was even living in 1 of the garages and they do nothing about it. As per with HC they are quite good at taking the money and not great at anything else.

My husband purchased an old Land Rover and enquirered about a garage in same block as there were clearly 3 ob empty and they said they had none. Then after being adviced to  by a someone else with a garage I got our local councillor involved and a garage became available .

The garage does what I need and is in an area away from most things so is fine  if you are trying to rent a garage in a busy spot that may get vandalised or damaged I would avoid as I’m not sure how much help you would get from the council if you Need repais .

That's all so discouraging :(

With this motorcycle theft crisis we're having in London, I need a garage asap for mine.

They already tried hijacking my bike while I was riding home from work and they tried stealing it a couple of time at night, last time resulting in a bent front disc that cost me £400 to replace.

I don't really know what to do...
