One of the interests of living in London is that so many - if not all - of our boroughs have a real mix of people, housing, and wealth.  Islington and Camden certainly share with Haringey having wealthy areas and poorer areas in each borough and even "leafy Barnet" has some areas of deprivation. My street has a mix of owner occupied houses and flats, rented flats, council flats, and possibly still some HMO's, all in the one short road. And I agree that we should be pleased that generally incomes in our borough are on the rise even if it is still unequal between east and west.

It's the old east versus west thing, the Pesto Triangle distorts all the figures

I think this signals more than 'this is because of the west side of the borough's wealth'. Individuals/couples/families with greater wealth/income have moved into central areas of the borough over the last decade, such as our own ward Harringay and further east into St Anns, West Green/Downhills area, South Tottenham etc. A house in Falkland Rd went for a few quid shy of a million this week and it's had a pretty standard make over. This is a significant trend in Haringey as in other boroughs. Thankfully Haringey is however still very mixed in many ways and I hope it remains so.
