Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Rather an odd request to post I realise, but I wonder if there's someone local who might be willing to help us out. Only requirement is you own an UPPABaby Vista buggy. Stop reading if not .....

We are expecting our first baby later this summer, and are going through the motions of buying a pram/buggy.

We have a narrow house just off Alexandra Road, Turnpike Lane, and want to know if an UPPABaby Vista buggy will fit through our front door. It's looking tight.

We're not able to road test one in-situ, and wondered if there was anyone nearby who had one, and was willing to pop over and do a road-test for us.

We'd be very grateful and more than willing to offer-up in return...

a) a cup of tea

b) a friendly chat

c) a nice bottle of wine or two :)

Anyone able to help, then message me. Thanks :)

Hi Zoe. There's a Harringay mums whatsapp group I can add you to if you like? You might find someone to help on there. Pm me.

I have an Uppababy Cruz which fits fine but hard to get around it say to open the front door when in the hallway.  The Vista has bigger wheels and I wouldn't have been able to get it around the staircase in the hallway .

Hi Saima,

Yes it would be great to be connected into the WhatsApp group. I'll PM you as you suggest.

Zoe

We’ve got one and happy to help out.  It’s an awesome buggy - loads of storage and options.   On reflection though, knowing what we know now, we probably would have bought the Uppababy Cruz - which is similar but narrower.   It fits in our house fine, but we struggle to get on the bus with it (you need to get on the bus at the backdoors as it can get trapped if you get on at the front on some busses. Some drivers have even refused to open the back doors to let us on, which has been a bit of a nightmare).   We also found it difficult on holiday when the pram wouldn’t fit through the hotel room doors!   We ended up buying a McLaren, which we’ll use if we’re out and about in London now

Thanks so much for sharing your thoughts Ian, really helpful! Would be great if you didn't mind popping over with the buggy, I've just sent a message to connect so I can PM you. Sounds like we need to look at the Cruz too from everyone's comments! Zoe

I have one too and also happy to help (with or without occupants of buggy). It's great if are happy to walk, and you can pretty much fit half your house in the storage compartment. I walked everywhere with my kids because mat leave is conducive to that kind of thing. The sunshade options are really good on both bassinet and seat (better than most and you shouldn't need to fall into the trap of using a muslin, which isn't advised due to temperature). It turns on a sixpence so is reasonably manoeuvrable, but it is a bit of a tractor. If you push it handle first into the corner of the buggy/wheelchair space on the bus, then someone with a smaller buggy can usually fit theirs on. I have never had a bus driver refuse to open the back doors, but some buses have a pole in an odd place meaning you have to use the back doors.

The babyzen yoyo us about the same price and gadgetry I believe, and more travel friendly.

Thanks Charlotte, really helpful insights. Much appreciated, as is your kind offer to help with testing to clearance through the door - I've just sent a message to connect so I can PM you. Zoe

I'm going to add to the coversation with an alternative (mentioned above) - the Uppababhy Cruz.

That's the modely we went for as we had a narrow door.

It's not as wide as the Vista, but still has an amazing large basket underneath for all of your bits and bobs.

The bassinet and chair are identical to the Vista (or at least were in our model)

Just thought I'd add my thoughts!

Will definitely take a look at the Cruz as well. Thanks for pointing us in that direction.
