Hi, my daughter is 2 & 1/2 years old, do you think she'll be able to enjoy the lantern making, obviously with careful supervision from me, or is it really for older ones? Thanks

Hi Candice,  Thanks for your email.  With the workshop at the Falkland Centre on Friday night and The Salisbury on Saturday we will have an option to make a simpler paper lantern, similar to a chinese new year lantern.  This may be enough for your little one as they can decorate, add stickers, glitter etc.  However if you and your little one are up for getting messy then I would definitely try a willow and tissue paper lantern.  We will have kits for a cuboid or pyramid made up, which are the simplest shapes to do.  You could always see how much your Daughter is happy to do and leave if she gets restless and finish the rest at home with some extra materials we can give you.  She will definitely love holding the lantern on a stick and joining in with the parade on the 28th which is pretty magical (if not raining ;-)  Alternatively Railway fields will be making jam jar lanterns on the day, which will probably be suitable.  Hope to see you and your Daughter later this week.  Best wishes, Anna

Thanks very much, that's brilliant.  She'll be going with her grandma to the Salisbury so sounds like she'll definitely have fun.  We came to the lantern parade last year as well, so looking forward to it this year. Thank you!
