Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

We have recently moved into our new pebbledashed home. We thought we'd remove it straightaway but the first quote has been eye-wateringly high. We went to a company called Mahon, they seem great and are rated really highly, but I'd like to find another company from whom to obtain a comparable quote. Online searches have proved fruitless. I've noticed a few houses on the ladder that have had their brickwork cleaned up recently and I wondered if anyone could recommend another company.

A post on this in 2011 but remains unanswered, can someone help this time?!

You can render on top as a much cheaper solution if it's fairly new and stuck on well.
Hi there Richard Sheridan here if you like I can pop round and give you a quote my number is 07466859578/02084857240

I've spoken to Richard and will ask him about the possibility of rendering instead…thank you both, I'm feeling hopeful that I can find a more affordable solution to smartening up our house!

May I be rude and ask for a ballpark figure for how much this costs? We have pebbledash on the front of our two bed terrace in N22 and would very much like it gone. Having said that, we did have it painted and I think that's improved the appearance massively. Still not as nice as brick though!

We've still not had ours done as we are waiting for the new windows to be fitted (apparently thats the best order to do it in?) Mahon quoted 4500-5k and fortress £1500 but they didn't mention repointing afterwards and the quote seemed almost too good to be true. I took Finsbury park ranger's advice and got a quote to re-render as our pebbledash is so big and bumpy it may need more than just paint to improve the look of the house. On the plus side this means I get to paint my house a bright colour to cheer me and my neighbours up as opposed to the sad grey I'm faced with daily at the mo.

Sorry to hear about your experience, Dee, but I hope you are enjoying your brick front at last!

Thank you for indulging my nosiness, that's very interesting. I suspect we will just have to accept that ours is here to stay!

We made the same decision a few years ago, looked like it was going be too problematic and expensive.  I cut out this article from the ES at the time but a quick google search found this link - has some useful info
