Dear friends and neighbours,

The ongoing heartbreaking saga of WARDS CORNER continues ... Grainger recently submitted a THIRD application to demolish the whole area between seven sisters road, suffield road and west green road, crushing long-standing local businesses in our seven sisters community. The proposed monstrous structure will take away any sense of historical significance to the street, not to mention how generic the design is!!! We pride ourselves on local run business, we don't want McDonalds and Pizza Express!!! The shop rents will be far too high for any wiped-out business to return. A kind of social cleansing appears to be proposed.

TFL have now also opposed the plans citing structural risks to the underground system.

HARINGEY COUNCIL have arranged a meeting TOMORROW:

Wednesday 30 May 2012, 7pm, The Moselle
Room, Tottenham Town Hall, Town Hall Approach, Tottenham Green N15 4RY

This is our first and possibly last chance to address the many issues directly to GRAINGER and to our Council.

If you don't live in Seven Sisters, please consider coming along to show your support. I sense there will be a lot of disruption, even riots if this proposal goes ahead so it's in everybody's best interests to support the campaign against the development company.

WE ALL AGREE IMPROVEMENTS NEED TO BE MADE IN THE WARDS CORNER SITE, BUT NOT LIKE THIS !!!

It's just not the excellent comments made here. Even IF the development goes ahead, there's no guarantee that it will get off the ground. Seven Sisters would be left, in a worse-case scenario with an open derelict space which would lie empty for many more years, blighting the neighbourhood further. Who in their right mind would even invest, trade or even shop there? The situation is bad at the moment, but the  future, if the Council has its way, would be distrastrous.

The council will be putting themselves in a very sticky situation if they pass this latest plan. They have rejected the previous plan and have now been presented with a worse one. Grainger have not addressed the reasons that the last plan was refused, in any way. They have produced a biased heritage report, done a poll that was so one sided, it is a complete joke. And produced a memory board that is designed to remind us all of what they intend to demolish. They now have a website which initially makes no mention of Grainger and got people to sign up to their plan, without giving them any option of restoration. We have had a farcical planning forum meeting and been told that there is a silent majority who favour Grainger!!! The objectors are in the minority, all thousand of them!! All this will have to be ignored if they want to get this latest plan through.
