Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Sadly, I've not been able to get to Lordship Rec for a few weeks (long story) but, between Autumn last year and the Summer holidays, I was spending a few hours every week walking, taking pictures and just marvelling at how lovely this green space is.

Be it the diversity of insect life in the summer meadows, the birdlife clustered around the lake, the fine mature trees of the woodland, autumn fungi on the dead wood or the dazzling array of wildflowers, there was always something new to see. One morning of magic, we woke to a heavy frost and I hurried over to the Rec and found myself all alone on a quiet Wednesday morning in a personal Narnia.

In May, Spring was in full swing, and Summer in the meadows was a riot of colour: flowers, butterflies, bees, beetles, hover flies...

So, this week, I was delighted to cast my vote in the Fields in Trust competition to find the UK's best park for Lordship Rec. This place has given me enormous pleasure over the past year and helped me develop my skills at identifying plants and insects, as well as just simply feeling utter contentment.

If you want to do the same all you have to do is click here and scroll down until you find them. This space, once abandoned and neglected, has been rejuvenated by the dedicated work of local residents, working in partnership with the council. It would be wonderful for them to receive well-deserved recognition for all their hard work.
