The Council is consulting on a new ‘Preferred Option’ Area Action Plan for the Wood Green Area following on from an initial ‘Preferred Option’ consultation in Spring 2017. This is known as a Regulation 18 Consultation under the Town and Country Planning Regulations 2012.

According to the Council, the Wood Green AAP is NOT predicated on the HDV  (minute 37, Cabinet meeting of 16 January 2018: http://bit.ly/2GJBzBv ). Page 12 of the latest AAP draft mentions 'Next Steps' and timelines: http://bit.ly/2nK1Zur  But some if not all the AAP drivers appear to be leaving their jobs this year - so the AAP consultation, funding and continuity seem connected with the HDV (to some degree, which may be clearer to you than it is to me:).

From p10 of the revised plan

"93 comments were received concerned that the proposals within the AAP would create additional traffic along Wightman Road, and consequentially within the Harringay Ladder. While it is acknowledged that there will inevitably be some transport impact from new development, the Council has commissioned a Transport Study which identifies that this will not be significant (due principally to the requirement for predominantly car-free new developments), and also identifies mitigation measures to encourage mode split to less congestive uses such as bicycle and walking."

Colleagues who can't afford to buy in Wood Green (ie middle income public sector workers) are moving to Croydon. I understand it's pretty quick on the train.

Agreed - I think the best thing the council can do is turn Wood Green into a conservation area to preserve its unique aesthetic appeal.

Ossies

you got it.

Gentrification anxiety. Pretty spot on.
