Dogs, frogs, and playground hogs

I admit it sounds like an entry into the most bizarre forum discussion title competition, but this is actually quite a serious post.

The recent (indeed current) thread about dog owners allowing - or encouraging - their pets to savage tree trunks (herehttp://www.harringayonline.com/forum/topics/damaged-trees-in-finsbu...made me think about another issue which bugs me: adult fitness buffs taking over the "froggy" playground on the American fields in Finsbury Park and using it as a private gym.

Every time I go past I see at least one man (usually a man) doing pull-ups or other exercises on the CHILDREN'S equipment, blithely ignoring the "under 12s only" sign on the gate.

Last time I was there there was even a personal trainer using it for a class! As I watched the crunches and stretches in amazement, a dad who arrived with his small son and let him play on the climbing frame - there were no other children there. The personal trainer simply carried on! I felt compelled to speak to the Dad and ask him if he didn't mind. He just sort of shrugged and said it happened every day.

Presumably the parks department is as hopelessly staffed as the planning and parking departments, each of which allow countless daily violations to occur apparently without redress. Is anything at all being done to stop this? Or do the council not care?

What do the Friends say?
