Harringay Steam Train Watchers

For locals who want to keep up to date with steam trains passing through Harringay.

0730 Saturday 15th at Harringay - a new locomotive

It's the first time this locomotive, 'British India Line' has visited Harringay. It's a 'Merchant Navy' class engine built in 1945 by the Southern Railway, originally with a streamlined casing which was later removed among other modifications. The Wikipedia article about it here has a photo of it in 1946 with the streamlining in place - quite different.

It was designed by Oliver Bulleid who had previously been Nigel Gresley's assistant at the LNER.
