If the Little Green Book Store existed during this era, it would have been on this turning.

When I arrived in Harringay the stores had recently burned down, (at least 22 years ago.)
The existing flats by Jewsons sprang up in their place.

On a positive note there are more Oxford cycle hoops!

My walk to and from Stationers between 1954 and 1960 - many thanks for the contemporary reminder.

Did you see this cheeky contemporary view from the other side of the bridge, Richard?

I have now! Brilliant - there was a day in early summer 1957 or 8 when a cloud burst sent loads of us under the sun shades for shelter - except they collapsed under the wight of water and we had to fill the shops! I 'think' the grocers referred to above was Home and Colonial - a precursor of Liptons? There was also a sweets, fags and papers shop and the boss there said there were too many sheltering so customers could not get in. Presumably he thought a few passing dolphins would make the effort! It rained in stair roads for about 30 minutes and the water was cascading down the slope, into the station!

Did this walk at least once a week to Hornsey Public Library.  Happy memories!

Aha - so settle an argument; am I right - the library phone number was Mountview 3220?

An archive of the Education Committees Yearbook of 1947 suggests that this was the Town Hall number.

Well, I guess I kind of remembered something! But I lose! Of course I used that one a lot too as a young hack. Many thanks.
