Shower water pressure down

The water pressure in my upstairs shower is significantly lower than usual and occasionally runs cold for a few seconds. I'm not sure if this issue is affecting all water pressure in the house or just that shower, and whether it's down to-

general drought conditions in London

something wrong with my almost new boiler

something wrong with the shower itself - calcification of the shower head (which there is, but I can't seem to get it off) or something in the thermostatic control mechanism (which is buried in the wall behind the tiling)

Before I call out a plumber/boiler engineer I thought I'd mine the collective wisdom of HoL and see if any of you have any suggestions, or are experiencing the same thing.

Don't think it's mains water pressure, seems normal to me further up the street.

That was my first thought, explaining the occasional cold flow. Clean the head first.

 Well you didn't say what type of shower do you have, standard hot and cold with a shower hose or a thermostatic control shower or an electric shower.

Well if it was the boiler, the hot water supply from the kitchen taps would be playing up and all. what's the name of the thermostatic valve, or even a picture of it.

I've just had four days of this happening and very frustrating it is too, though today it was back to normal pressure and the shower remained hot for more than 30 seconds.

Well I'm sorry to see that we are failing you, if you have a Combi boiler you may have to make sure that you are on one bar pressure for it to work normally, there should be a loop for you to bill up to 1 bar pressure for the boiler to work normally, sometimes it pays to take your photo of the shower so people can get a rough idea of the problem.

Maggie it is essential that your boiler if it is a combination boiler maintains a one bar pressure for it to work normally, if you do not know how to build up the pressure you have to tell me the make and model so I can advise you how to build up pressure, going by your last post it sounds intermittent.

I've managed to descale the shower head - had to hang a plastic bag of vinegar over it, as it's the kind that protrudes from the wall and can't be removed - and Bingo! Much better flow and no more cold spells.
