It is indeed, but it needn't be, because there is a direct line from Seven Sisters to Stratford - that bit wasn't closed. An electrified between Seven Sisters and (say) Wood Green would get you from Wood Green to Stratford in about 15 minutes. There is one direct train a week from Stratford to Seven Sisters to keep the link open - at about 05.30 on Saturdays, I think! The Seven Sisters link branches off the line from Stratford to Tottenham Hale (which now has a half-hourly service after years of nothing), and weaves through South Tottenham to Seven Sisters (and beyond).

I depends where you are starting from. I would guess the quickest way from Seven Sisters at present is Victoria Line to Tottenham Hale then West Anglia to Stratford. This last bit takes about 10 minutes. It also avoids going via Zone 1. The line is being upgraded at the moment, so a more frequent service will be possible. Alternatively take the Overground to Liverpool Street thence to Stratford on TfL Rail (soon the Elizabeth Line), the last part of which takes seven minutes (similar to Javelin). Another possibility is Overground to Stratford, changing at Hackney Downs to Hackney Central.

Crossrail will link Seven Sisters and Ally Pally if (a) you can wait that long and (b) it doesn't become the unpreferred route due to LBH's plans for it to service the Wood Green Megacity.

If they build that last bit first we could have the Stratford service running in no time (well, ten years, I guess!!)

Couple of pics showing what it was like queuing for a tram at Finsbury Park before the extension opened.

....and more graphically here.

Thanks for drawing our attention to this poster Ruth. I've added another version of the poster here. It can be purchased at the London Transport Museum
