Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

This is a bit of a long shot, but our car battery seems to have ended up flat in the recent cold weather. Would anyone have jump leads and be able to jump start it today? We're down on the Garden just off the Green Lanes.

Thanks everyone!

Sorry I can't help, but a word of warning.

A few years back, at which point I hadn't jump-started a car for a long time, I need to jump my car. It appears that in the interim car electronics technology had changed in such as way as to call for care when you jump-start a car. Apparently now you have to be careful as to how you jump start. The regular car-to-car jump start I did fried my instrument panel (that's the whole electronic gubbins that makes up your dashboard) . It was a very costly oversight.

I know it's still possible to jump a car because not long ago I had to have the RAC out and they jump started mine, but from a stand-alone jump start battery unit.

I know little about cars, but from what I was told it sounds as though it might be worth checking first.

Can you still get them going by pushing them in 2nd gear? I once had a car that would often only start that way - you had to be careful to park it facing downhill.

Yes but unburnt fuel plays merry hell with the catalyst if you do it often.

PS The one-ways on the Ladder now require more thought in parking at the top of a road facing downhill.....

I have a battery trickle charger you are welcome to come borrow to charge it up overnight if you have not got it going yet.
