Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

I'm hoping for some advice on a problem which seems to be escalating. There is a group of people who drink regularly on the pavement at the end of the road, day and night, and leave their rubbish behind as well as a lot of urine and occasional vomit. The crowd is growing and now there is now some very obvious drug dealing and taking happening as well. The group has spread into the front garden of a vacant property for sale.

I've reported it to the police (101 number) and Front Line services at the council. Is there anything else I should/can do?

Many thanks for any advice.

It’s worth having a chat with the safer neighbourhoods team.  They run regular Cuppa with a Copper sessions - link below and scroll down the page

Thank you, that's really helpful. We will go along.

... this was raised at the Labour Ward meeting on Wednesday evening... like Michael said... the Safer Neighbourhood Team are coordinating with the police and our Ward Councillor, Zena, has also been talking to the police about the problem... I understand that there's supposed to be plain clothes police working the Haringey passage but they're very stretched... we need to put pressure on central government for more police funding...

Thanks for this info, it's good to know it's on the agenda.

You could speak to the Agents who are selling the house. They might bring additional pressure to bear since nobody would want to live next to that.

Thank you, good suggestion. We will try that as well!

You may not be surprised John D but people do still buy these places.

On the orner of my street, right where drinking group gather, leave their mess, urine, drugs too, were two flats in one house for sale. One was sold almost immediately (£410000!) I guess property developers can still get tenants to pay massive rents because this is such a popular area and rents are high. I wonder if the street that Charlotte is referring to is my street as it sounds the same.

I think it must be the same place. Near Barclays. Paul Simon were not helpful, but the other vendor Froom were  and said they'd phoned the police about it and contacted the vendor. Also, another neighbour has barricaded the gate so people can't get in so easily.

That's the place Charlotte. It's been going on for so long now and the mess and stink some mornings is vile. Sometimes they congregate on the other side of the road. Good if estate agents can get involved but ultimately this is anti social behaviour, mostly on the streets and the police and council should be involved to do something.

It is absolutely disgusting and stinks. I keep photographing it an putting on the report it app. No change though. Hopefully if more and more people kick up a fuss about this, in all channels available, something may eventually happen.

If this is, as I suspect, at the Green Lanes end, then surely it's one for the traders to deal with? The cynic in me thinks that they have dealt with it and it's not happening out in front of their shops so it's ok.

I think you are correct. I will see if I can talk to someone in the bank, as it's happening outside their building on two sides. Thanks for all the suggestions and info.
