Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Over the last month I have noticed a massive increase in stationary traffic during rush hour at both ends of Wightman Road. At the Hornsey end it backs up past the garage and at the other end it backs up well past Jewson's and St Paul's Church from the roundabout near the Park. It looks to be a sheer increase in traffic but what has caused it. I understand the "summer" break is less busy but this is the worst I have seen it ever. (I've lived in the area for nearly 10 years). Due to the jams people are trying to take short cuts by zipping down the rungs (Frustrated so speeding) to GL only to find that's as bad as Wightman Road causing the rungs to get backed up too.

In the last week I've noticed the timing of the lights at the north end of Wightman Road seem to have changed and only 4 or 5 vehicles get out of Wightman or Hornsey Park Road on green light, I was guessing this is causing the longer than usual queues in Wightman and Hornsey Park Road.

Its the road works at the bit of Endymion Road going over the railway bridge from the Finsbury Park Entrance. They are digging the road up again there and have a three way set of lights going which is backing everything heading South on Wightman up as far as the eye can see. I came up the top of Pemberton the other morning and saw cars trailing way north up Wightman beyond Pemberton...

Thai subsequently means folks try to move E/W on Turnpike instead and this then blocks Turnpike Lane up too. I believe this is having an impact up into Wood Green as Turnpike Lane is so backed up the Green lanes/Turnpike Lane junction is also increasingly backed up.
