Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

London Underground has signed a contract for Siemens Mobility to supply 94 Inspiro London trainsets for the Piccadilly Line, Transport for London announced on November 20.

The first trainsets are scheduled to be delivered for testing in 2023 with entry into passenger service envisaged for 2024. This would enable peak frequencies to be increased from 24 to 27 trains/h by the end of 2026.

Siemens say that the trains will feature walk-through carriages, improved access to make them easier to get on and off, and feature full air-conditioning.

Only five years to wait!

Turnpike Lane will be closed by then for Crossrail-2 so... *yawn*.

John M yawned, he's only interested if they will have bike spaces (no).

It's really tricky to get on a Piccadilly line train in rush hour at Manor House. Similar for Arsenal, Holloway Rd and Caledonian Rd. Turnpike Lane is therefore, MUCH more convenient, just more expensive.

The only person pushing Crossrail 2 via Wood Green was Claire Kober.

But was it only Kober? Is that certain?  I'd be interested to hear the new Council's position on the Crorsrail 2 route.

As peak frequency currently seems to mean every 7 or 8 minutes, it shouldn't be hard to improve on...

I am sure that peak frequency on these trains used to be 3-4 minutes. I'm talking early noughties.

The figures I've given above equate to a train every 2.5 minutes now, increasing to one every 2.2 minutes in 2024.

The real question is: do they have driverless mode? That would be quite welcome.

Prefer humans myself. Maybe you prefer a Cherry 2000.

Hehe, more of a Christine guy really...

I imagine Siemens, who are now supplying the new trains for the GN Moorgate service, will deliver on time, not at least a year late as a certain other Canadian owned, Derby based, train builder contracted to supply new trains for the other local train service!

six bloody years? Don't put yourself out London Underground!
