Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

It's a bit out of the area for some of you but it's encouraging to see this new business set up in what was the shoemender's place for many years - two doors up from Wood Green station. Good coffee, staff and baked goods sourced locally and lovely owner (not a chain!) Michaela. It's already popular with some of my neighbours.

It must be the smallest coffee shop in London but the staff are friendly. I'm disappointed their coffee has a mild and bland taste. For an average of £2.60 for a coffee I expect a stronger, richer and more distinctive flavour.

I notice they offer staff from Haringey Council a discount of 10%

Cafe Nero has nailed the taste. I love their rich and rewarding taste, plus their phone app has clever features and offers me a free coffee after every nine drinks. To pay them, I tap in with my phone.

I find the coffee great and the best thing about it is the texture which comes from skilled coffee making. Never did rate Nero but everyone has different taste. Bean is going to get loyalty cards, by the way. Interesting that offer to council workers. It also makes me wonder how many other discounts are offered to them!

Just popped in to Bean and Brew for an excellent coffee and cake. Very nice people, bijou cafe! glad they give a discount to the Haringey staff from River House opposite.

That's good, Peter. Had you known about it before? They're really taking the trouble to engage with their customers, too, and I think people value this in the days of soulless transactions.

Bean + Brew charge £2.70 for a mild tasting Latte but if you walk down the hill for two minutes you can buy the same drink, a Latte, for £1.45 at McDonalds and the flavour is richer in my opinion. There are also lots of seats as opposed to the four seats in Bean + Brew.

I'm so disappointed that there is still not a good coffee shop near Wood Green Tube station. It is one of the busiest stations in London in the morning. Someone will make a fortune if they can provide a strong, rich coffee in Wood Green. Cafe Nero make such a coffee but their nearest branch is near Turnpike Lane Tube station.

I found it a lovely flavour and strong enough, when I'm normally fussy about that, especially places trying to fob you off with one shot. But struggle to see how you could be serious about suggesting McDonalds.
