Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Having a bit of decorating done so have  bought some one day parking permits for their van. The other morning a Parking Attendant, Warden or whatever they are called nowadays, approached the van driver to check his permit , which was correctly applied, and then asked " have you got one for me ?" .  Am I being cynical to think that a Parking Attendant might offer to sell a permit to someone he was otherwise to ticket , at an inflated price ?? Seem like bad behaviour to me.

I know one or two of the local ones and they are pleasant people. I suspect it was a crude attempt at a bad joke...

Think of it this way, these guys wonder our streets all day and the little human interaction they have is with angry people who think it is ok to park on a double yellow while they load their shopping into the car...

As a parent of two children, who doesn't crave a little empathetic human interaction from time to time...?

Quite possibly, the fellow was quite amiable at first but seemed to sour when his request was rejected.

I don’t think it was a joke. My parents were staying last week and as my Dad was putting the permit in his car a parking attendant approached him and asked where he could get the permits and whether my Dad had any for sale. Very odd.

I suppose it's possible that people without permits ask attendants where they can get one and if the attendant had some to sell well I think that's a situation I could live with..

Odd - permits aren't meant to be resold [though they are for no profit, see here occasionally], perhaps parking person was twigging for that?

Otherwise, wtf.

Does not sound great but a couple of points. Most, if not all, now have body cameras I believe, and if you got his (I assume it is a he) number, or you remember when and where the incident was then the individual may be traced, and his body camera footage assessed... Just a thought. ??!
