Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

If anyone is experiencing excessive noise disturbance from the Adobe festival in Finsbury Park, suggest reporting it on Haringey's report it noise form - apparently they recognise there are growing no. of complaints from this area and are monitoring levels at the park.

It is ridiculous. Can't hear my TV. Can't hear myself think!

So annoying. I have complained. I hope others are too.

Last time I did complain though, after Sink the Pink, few weekends ago, the director of noise services rang me after the event and told me they only had a couple of people on noise control in Harringay in weekends so they had difficulty attending to all complaints. I said this isn't every day noise and they should have people on site but she said they didn't have enough staff on to deal with it. Grrrrrr.  Like they're not making loads of money from it.

It should have specialist noise control on the site when events like this are happening.

I’m in n15 and it’s been driving me nuts all day

Sink the Pink was like 1/8th the capacity of the big ones. What was the issue?

I rang the residents line just now to be told the council was monitoring the noise tonight and it was within permitted levels. I don't believe that for a second and I suspect the line is manned by people employed by the promoters.

So you have the number handy? I’m really cross!!

They mean that noise level is monitored by placing a meter in front of the stage. That bears no relation to sound levels at distant locations, which is where monitoring should be done. We should also be told what 'permitted' levels are and who determines them.

In the past I've seen a noise monitoring crew across the road from me (Woodstock Rd) but not this time. Also I suspect that these crews were nothing to do with the festival and were hired by maybe FFP?

We’re in n15 and our house is rattling! I love a festival, but this is taking the p. I have filled out the form to complain, but I doubt it will make any difference

how can they possibly say its within permitted levels when they haven’t even visited your house to assess?! It’s ridiculous!!

As I say, I don't think whoever I spoke to was anyone from the council! They claimed the noise was being monitored but there's no way it can be within permitted levels given the sheer amount of complaints they're getting.

Someone on Twitter who lives near North Middlesex hospital said they can hear the bass from there!

Monitoring. What does that actually mean? To me it means that nothing will be done. What I would want is instant action, turn the volume down, NOW!. Discussing and maybe fining them after the event doesn't actually help us, the suffering residents. These festival organizers know they will get away with the loud noise. A small fine (relevant to the profit they'd be making) is no deterrent as they'll have got the effect they were after.
