Thanks Maggie, I moved there in 93 and left in 06, to live in N15.  Should be fun to see who what where I recognise

The Guardian article mentions “the nuclear train”. I have lived on Pemberton Rd since 1990 and I remember being woken up at around 4am every morning by the sensation of the room shaking, like a tremor, and the sound of a train going past. I always wondered what it was.  It occurred to me recently that I’d not felt or heard it for a long time.

Does anyone know anything about this, or shared the same experience.

If I remember right, the so-called 'nuclear train' ran/runs on the Gospel Oak to Barking line.

Also car trains from Barking, I remember seeing my first Ford Focus on one.

I know it ran through Gladstone Park, as I grew up there and I used to hear it in the middle of the night as well. As it’s NW2, then Gospel Oak line sounds about right
