Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Letter drop from Network Rail this morning. Bit surprised they think I'll be disturbed by the work living at the Green Lanes end of Umfreville, but positive publicity nevertheless.

When the footbridge was being strengthened last April, one of the engineers said to me "During the Christmas & Boxing Day closure there are plans to crane in a replacement for the ticket office", though he did add the rider "But don't hold me to that".

Still, better later than never. The current ticket office is about 50 years old and is decrepit, e.g. one door is locked because it's falling apart, and was installed after the original and much larger one was burnt down in 1968 (HoL has images of it).

"We will be working between January and March 2020 outside the station operating hours. We will be working at the station including the station footbridge and the platforms. We are excavating the foundations for the new ticket office ... two periods of continuous working between 24-26 January and 29 February - 2 March."

That's good news. Thanks for passing it on.

Excellent news. I look forward to seeing it.

Excellent news indeed, won't be sorry to see the old 'shed' go. I had not seen pictures of the old one before - what a pity it burnt down.

Neighbor? Nay -it's Neighbour...

At least they are giving warning but I'm glad I'm on the further reaches of Stroud Green Ward...

Note that the continuous working coincides with the two upcoming weekends when Kings Cross is closed; presumably they are taking advantage of the lack of trains!

Harringay station renewal restarts from 8 June. Full letter posted below. No trains at all 20-21 June (though that's nearly redundant info!).

Thanks for the update, Gordon. Did the previously scheduled work get cancelled?

If, while they are at it they can stop the footbridge from leaking onto the platforms every time it rains, that would be good
