Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Hi everyone,

I did fifteen years of ballet training as a child/teenager, but gave up when I went to university. I was never going to be a prima ballerina - I did a few exams, but it was mainly a hobby I enjoyed and it kept me somewhat fit. I should also add I've done 10 years of flamenco since, and danced professionally for a while.

I now realise, having recently taken up a new sport, that I've lost a lot of the flexibility I had as a youngster (I know that's natural as one gets older anyway) and I'd like to take some ballet classes to help regain some of that lost flexibility. I've had a look on Google and found there are lots of kids' ballet classes locally, but I've not found any relaxed, non-exam based ones for adults.

Does anyone know of any classes for "normal" adults in the neighbourhood, must be evenings or weekends? I've no aspirations to perform, take exams, teach, wear tutus, etc., I just want to dance once a week as part of my broader training program, but I'm not a beginner.

I'm also really set on ballet - not yoga, pilates or any of the 101 other things I could do to help!

Thanks!

Bethany

There is an adult ballet class at the ymca on thursday evenings.  The teacher's really good.

Awesome, thanks!

I teach adult ballet classes at the factory dance studios in crouch end on Mondays and Wednesday nights. Monday’s is beginners and Wednesdays is intermediate (so probably best suited to you if you have plenty of experience) check out the factory website for class pass deals and free trial passes.

The Gabrielle Rowley School of Dancing also run an adult class and offer a free trial lesson. They're based in the upstairs hall at St Mary with St George's Church, Cranley Gardens, London N10 3AH. My daughter's been in the children's classes a few years.

Class time info here.

I go to a lovely class at Alexandra Palace    It’s First Steps School of dance    In fact they have a demo on saturday at Hornsey Vale Community Centre where there is a dance event called Leap Dance Fest.
