Housing specific advice - social housing problems with landlord - where in Harringey?

Can anyone please let me know where can I get advice on some issues I am having with my landlord (L&Q) as not getting anywhere with them.

I prefer not to go into details here (not repairs related, just them being very stubborn while they are completely wrong about some issue) , hope this is ok.

I live near Stroud Green, the side that comes under Harringey (if that makes any difference).

Who could I contact for help to put some pressure on L&Q to have an issue resolved?

Can not afford a solicitor so that is not an option.

I would start with Citizens Advice  - they used to have someone who dealt directly with L&Q but I'm not sure that's still the case so don't quote me.

You can call the AdviceLine 0300 330 1187 for general advice Monday to Friday, 10am to 1pm and 2pm to 4pm. There are also drop in sessions at local libraries which you can find at the linked to site above but there can be high demand for those so be prepared to queue. 

It is a problem that most advice centres operate within working hours. You can also try Shelter's Advice Line and CAB's national site has lots of information and the Mary Ward Centre *may* be able to help depending on your circumstances.

If you can get to Muswell Hill on Saturday Morning The St James Legal Advice Centre has a morning session  9.30am to 12.00 noon at the church. Details here

You can find your local councillor here ( I can't comment on their effectiveness!) and clicking on their name should tell you when they have surgeries and their contact details. They *may* be able to help as you are in a housing association property.

In defence of the local CitA, I volunteered for 5 years with CAB and I know that the demand for these services is huge and the services are very stretched. There was awareness that not everyone can queue for hours which is why the Telephone Advice Line was brought in to triage and then give signposting or appointments as appropriate. Unfortunately it relies wholly on volunteers which are always in short supply, so sadly can't always accommodate everyone. Hope some of the alternatives I've signposted can help.
