The job centre if you are out of work have really good staff who help with CV structure and writing. And the libraries used to have workshops and 1-1 support especially Wood Green library. Best to look on the website or ring them up they may be offering this service via email/phone/zoom.
Im not an expert but would be happy to have a look at it for you and give you some feedback if that would help? Or are you looking for  more intensive support with the CV?

I'd be wary of the Job Centre.

The quality of advice can vary widely from garbage to mildly informative, the entry requirements for the job used to be three GSE's max and they got rid of that requirement.

Most of the staff have never worked anywhere but the JC and have problems with concepts such as education, skills, experience. Basic Literacy problems.

In your case my biggest tip would be that you have more skills and experience than you realize don't limit yourself to just "Job Title" or narrow Trade/Procession.

Maybe as a exercise (half a day) try to write a Skills based  based CV and try to figure what you can re-package and re-sell.

The National Careers Service

https://nationalcareers.service.gov.uk/

Has an online questionnaire / testing service - the first section is Micky Mouse but the second section is actually quite good at extracting skill sets. I found it informative.

The reason the first section is MM is it produces a list  of 300 jobs that might interest you - in my case from high court judge, professional footballer , electronics engineer to ...

There is  a free online course available now offered by Sheffield University covering all aspects of CVs and job applications:

Thank you all for you very helpful suggestions, I'll reply properly and ask a couple of more questions once I get a chance, I am still in my current busy role, reason for leaving is I have realised while working from home I do way too much commuting and driving, and don't see the kids enough, and we are being requested to come back to the office full time, with no option to work from home, even though we only want to work from home for a day or two a week, on a rotational basis. Thanks again.

Hi Lusia, thanks for the offer, I'll send you a connection request. Thanks, Rob

As someone who has had to recruit staff, keep your CV to no more than one A4 sheet and finish by saying"  I should be happy to enlarge on these details by telephone *. Don't bugger about with bullet points etc - keep it clear and simple.

I have read a lot of CVs in my working life and have a pretty good idea what works and what doesn't. If you would like me to take a look and make some suggestions I would be more than happy to.

Hi Samuel, thanks for the offer, I'll send you a connection request. Thanks, Rob

hi Rob, lots of good help on the jobs.ac.uk careers advice site- here's one article for starters

I'm happy to help you though seems like you've got some good offers here! I've worked in HE as employability advisor including sessions on CVs, job applications, interview preparation etc. Get in touch if you like. Good luck!

Hi  Ruth I noticed your response to this query because I am keen to find a cv writer to look and amend a young persons' cv.  Is this something you do?

Hi Rob.  Was wondering if you found help?  And looking for someone to strengthen a young person's cv.
