Harringay online

Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

45 minutes to get through this morning. no appointments left. then (when I'll and feeling vulnerable) having to deal with call back from battle-axe nurse/ gatekeeper - I know when I need to see a doctor. she won't listen, talks over me in dismissive contemptuous tones. she knows better. ask for suggestions where is a drop in or should I go to A&E - this is slapped down in sneery tone.

My GP there (who is nice) is on long term sick. I need to find another practice. anywhere as long as not located in Umfreville Road. I have put in a formal complaint to NHS England - they were very helpful and will call the practice to negotiate this time. but I haven't the energy to keep dealing with this c£#$p...

Might I suggest to all those who are complaining to join the surgeries patients group. They meet every month.
It's the surgeries patients group. You turn up every month or two meet with all the staff and tell them what you think. Just speak to reception and they'll invite you to the next meeting .
Queenswood is great. Pretty sure most or all of ladder is in catchment.

ooooh welcome to the 21st century, Britain! \o/

Seriously? I keep on hearing that but... I moved about 1 mile away from my old room on the ladder. Turns out, our house is about 0.5 miles outside Queenswood's catchment area and they just chucked me out, wouldn't even discuss it!

It looks from a quick Google search as if it's supposed to be happening in October.

It is burt is is an awkwarf jouney on the bus, but in Patient Participation, my travel guide which remains relevant is there.  Fron your side it's the 144 and a short walk, or the W5 and a slightly longer walk!  Unlike at various hospitals you can use the car park for free!

Might I also mention that slagging off the nurse online is cruel and probably won't get you very far.

The truth will out sometimes and this person has got away with treating patients with disrespect and rudeness for too long it seems. Re training may be necessary.  There's a poem I've always liked called

For Lies Spoken out of Kindness

By Desanka Maksimovic (b. 1898)

 I seek mercy

for those who lack the courage

to tell the evil one that he is evil

or the bad one that he is bad,

for those who hesitate

to hurt with the truth

for the people who lie out of kindness

for the man who would rather be humiliated

than humiliate

for the man who has no heart

to pull down a mask when he sees it

on someone’s face

for the people who cannot insult

those of  different thoughts and creeds

for those who never could

pronounce a sentence to others

for whom all judges seem strict

for every kind untruthful story

and other similar weaknesses

I don't think I've been cruel in what I've said about the triage nurse. I have not named her or exaggerated accounts her behaviour. She has a job dealing with the public and is not being properly managed as she is allowed to continue behaving as she does.

She causes a great deal of anxiety and upset to a lot of people who are ill and anxious anyway and I think people have been quite restrained in what they've said given the treatment she doles out on a daily basis.

I complained to several people at the surgery e.g. doctors and practice manager and whilst they were sympathetic it achieved nothing, so I'm airing my views here in the hope that someone with a bit more influence might read it and take an interest in trying to sort out what could be a great surgery.

I think it would be unfair to say that the practice as a whole is terrible. The doctors and some of the other staff, both medical and administrative are generally excellent.

Absolutely 'pipplypig', spot on.  See my comments above but if words to those directly responsible don't achieve a change move on.  Hassle, yours and my taxes are paying for her salary.
