Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Hi guys,

We are thinking of having some fake grass put in our garden. There are plenty of places selling the stuff, but does anyone know anyone that has experience of installing it? The area isn't very big at all - around 12 sq mt by my measurements.

I would also be interested in hearing from anyone that has it/has seen it at other houses/would or would not recommend it. Obviously we are thinking of having the astro turf which looks like grass fitted, rather than the five aside school football pitch turf!

Many thanks in advance.

We have astroturf, it was there when we moved in. I was going to get rid of it, as I hated the idea of fake grass. After a few weeks I was sold, and it's going nowhere. It's LOVELY! Maintenance free, looks good, you can sit on it any time and stay dry, no lawn to mow.. do it!

No experience re installation I'm afraid, but I'm now all for fake grass!

Thanks Anette for the review! The maintenance free bit is exactly what I want, and was worried about how it look and felt, so glad it looks good and is ok to sit down on etc!

Get a sharp pruning knife, quite easy to cut. Amazing stuff. Really nice to walk on. Looks lovely. Got about 4 x 4 meters on amazon for about £200.

If you're putting it on something that is flat, it looks positively crisp. Flanked by bamboo and you have yourself a little zen garden on what might have been a crap bit of concrete.
Hi we had fake grass installed by a company. I was sceptical but now a convert. We had a small patch of grass that was really hard to maintain ( combination of children, partial shade, moss, bald patches). It looked awful no matter how hard we tried to look after it. We paid for proper installation which means a company removes all grass, digs down a bit, levels, puts a protective fabric layer down to stop weeds, then puts small stones for drainage, then uses a layer of recycled spongy stuff then puts the grass on and a fine layer of sand on top to weight it and to help keep cool in sun. This is how it's done for play areas so means when done by a company it has a slightly bouncy feel. It's made a huge difference to our little patch as we have 3 young children and they love it and play far more on it than they used to in all weathers and all through the year. 2 years on its perfect and was definitely worth the investment. Think we used a company called easigrass . They have lots of samples and we chose the best quality one we could afford. Good to get samples as there is a huge difference in look, feel and texture.
Hi Juliette, what company did you use?
Hi, we used easigrass & the work came with an 8 or 10 yr guarantee too I think.
After months of research we went with Namgrass for quality and a 10yr guarantee. We absolutely love it!
