Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

(Probably) great news from the Green Lanes Strategy Group this evening.

1. The concept of a Harringay Festival, involving the closure of Green Lanes has been given approval in principle (the devil's always in the detail, so we're not there yet). Big up the charming Shefik Mehmet from Harringay Traders' Association for that one. He's been pursuing the idea for three years. And our own Liz was mentioned in dispatches by Councillor Canver as also being an advocate.

2. The Harringay Charter got the green light. I think this is in principle + a bit more. The first phase will be a very inclusive consultation with the locals by the locals to get some sense of what shape the charter should take.

So good news, I hope. I'll write more when I get a free moment.

Well done youse! We held a street festival here on Elmhurst Road in August and it was a terrific day. Good luck with it.

A street party in Green Lanes? How nice! Have we ordered the Coronation Mugs?
Great news as long as the Charter keeps focus on the historic value of Grand Parade and the cultural mix of Green Lanes.
Excellent news! Keep up the good work!!
A big thank you to Hugh and Liz and all the other involved - I imagine an enormous amount of time went into planning these two things behind the scenes. Often we just see the tip of the iceberg with these things. Congratulations to all. I'm looking forward to the festival!
No cars on Green Lanes for a day!!!! Now thats something to celebrate. Well done Liz and Hugh. Will be a good opportunity to promote HOL.
Progress indeed! Well done you folks. Next year in Jerusalem - I mean Wightman Road.
