Very sad. Almost certainly gang-related.

Well from the way the report is written it certainly implies this wasn't just a random Saturday night altercation.
I was coming home about 2am and saw the pavement on that side of Green Lanes taped off with Police tape right up to Umfreville Road. It is sobering when violent crime comes so close to your door.

I spoke with Halil from Rakaas and apparently this incident happened under the bridge. The wounded individual was then taken in to Rakaas and an ambulance called.

Because of the snap of the restaurant used in the article, it's natural to assume that the incident was related to Rakaas. I'm told that the Standard will be posting an apology and clarification that the restaurant wasn't involved.

That makes sense actually as that's precisely the spot where the policeman was standing guard at 2am. But what was the onlookers statement about 2 men coming in to Rakkas all about then?
I just went to the same link again and the story has been completely changed. Those onlookers aren't referred to at all any more.

Posting some post-post truth?

IF the journalist owns a  house.

If renting, or even looking to buy, scare stories might be advantageous

Why do you think it's gang related? I couldn't see any mention of groups/gangs etc in the article unless I missed something?

The original report included a reference to men coming in "looking" for someone in Rakkas. It has since been corrected to reflect the truth of the situation which is that the attack happened in the street and the victims were merely assisted by Rakkas staff after the attack.
