Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Internet has been down since Saturday, briefly back yesterday but not working again this morning. I have just spoken to an engineer working on the box which serves Effingham and possibly part of Wightman. He said that the problem is caused by a faulty cable junction under Wightman Road which can only be fixed if Haringey Council allows the road to be closed - and so far this has not been agreed. Pressure on councillors needed!

Under the road? The Virgin cable network is under the footpath! The sewer and power lines are under the road.

Didn't they dig up the road for Virgin earlier this year?

Maybe Virgin Media isn't coughing up enough coin to the Council to enable the road closure?

Wightman Rioad was effectively closed for nearly a year while they rebuilt the railway bridge. I can't imagine repairing a junction box would take that long. As for the old chestnut about Virgin not paying the labour council enough in bribes, I wish people wuth a political agenda would get off that particular paranoid hobby horse.

VM have just extended the fix for broadband to 28/6. For me, broadband has functioned for about 2 days so far in June. Really unhappy.

You should obviously push for compensation and maybe a free upgrade of any equipment if that is applicable. We have two boxes in two rooms, one a Tivo and the other not. I was offered an upgrade for one to a Tivo when I had a complaint.

Same for us on Effingham. Can't believe how little it's been working. Have used up all the data on phones and other devices and having to buy in extra services which they won't refund us for. Absolutely fuming.

Am having a bit of a twitter war with VM at the moment and will be cancelling.

Me too. What hashtag are you using, if any?

I'd move to Zen if I were you. Virgin can't even be bothered to lock their street cabinets.

Try sending a complaint to the CEO:

I've not verified this information is correct; just stumbled upon this site this morning...

I found that email address too - but I doubt it goes anywhere near him. I'm writing to

I also tried Twitter but the Virgin people running that account only appear to have access to the same duff information we do.

if you look at your terms and conditions you will probably find Virgin have covered themselves for eventualiies like this. Not saying it is right or fair or good, but you signed the contract.
