Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Forgive me if this is a thread already.
I can't be the only one who has seen the problem at this crossing. So much traffic is trying to get across the junction from Sainsbury's and so much traffic coming down the hill, you can quite often stand waiting for the traffic to clear the crossing even when the green man is lit. The traffic doesn't stop.
It's not necessarily their fault. There comes a point where the drivers can no longer see any traffic signal. There's a blind spot. They can't see that the lights have changed and that the walk signal is showing.
Yesterday I saw a woman who wasn't particularly paying attention have to jump back as a car sped over the crossing. What with that and vehicles stopping across the crossing, including buses, you can wait quite a while to cross.
My partner brought this to the attention of TFL some months ago and they said they would look in to it. Of course, nothing has happened.
I hate to say this is an accident waiting to happen but... it is.

Over the years have raised this issue with the councillors, council and police and nothing has been done. In fact none of the councillors replied. To be honest it is not the drivers fault as they cannot see the green man. Most are apologetic when I have to point it out to them.
Yep. Not their 'fault' and some of them DO apologise. Some of them slam on the brakes when they do realise. But really, as I'm sure you agree, it's just a matter of time before someone gets hurt. It just needs a supplementary light facing the traffic on the pole that holds the pedestrian signal

I drive over this junction twice daily, once in either direction. There is absolutely no difficulty whatsoever for a motorist in seeing when the lights are green or red, or in seeing pedestrians. The problem arises because the junction is often clogged, leading to some - and only some - motorists jumping the lights intentionally just to try to get through them, especially if they're already frustrated at having had to wait to get either out of Sainsbury's or down the long bottleneck from Manor House.

Some motorists may 'apologise' as a way of diffusing a potential altercation.

I do think there is a point where there is no visible signal. But you are right, it probably is people jumping the lights exacerbating a clogged junction.
I don't think there is a visible signal and as a result there will definitely be a time when somone is hit.

This 'problem at the crossing' is no problem at all. It is the one spot in Harringay where tooled up & gadgeted pedestrians learn to detach themselves momentarily from their smart gadgets and become a little smarter themselves, at least for a minute. We need more Hashtag junctions to smarten up our pedestrians and rid them of their blind spots.

How true. But the driver wasn't paying attention either as he put his foot down after the other traffic had moved off. But surely, however stupid we are as pedestrians, being run over is a harsh punishment for owning but perhaps using at the wrong time, a smart phone. Which I personally DON'T have I might add.

I prefer George's, anyway

Yes, blame the pedestrians for crossing when the man is green.

If drivers really are that frustrated by traffic I have the ideal solution for them...
This is a real problem and one I have experienced as both driver and pedestrian it is NOT a case of inconsiderate drivers or jumping the lights as Michael suggests. The problem occurs when exiting Sainsbury's et al and turning right onto Green Lanes, the lights are green you set off and at that point you are unable to see if the pedestrian light has changed if you are in even moderate congestion. Already raised the issue with TFL thh' wasn't sure if they were the right " agency".
We were directed to TFL by the council. Unlikely as that appears, as our American chums would say... Go figure. Their remit apparently.
