Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Tottenham Hotspur FC have announced plans for a new property development on land at High Road West, that Haringey Council promised just three weeks ago (on 9 October) to the developer Lendlease.

Spurs say they want to build 330 new homes and a new public square at 'Goods Yard Tottenham'. PS - that sounds like one of the Council's own trading estates... The site is marked in red on the aerial view above.

Spurs already have a housing and retail development in the pipeline at 500 White Hart Lane.

While Spurs and Lendlease scrap over development sites West of the Spurs Ground, Spurs are losing out badly over service charges and access to land on the East side of their Stadium, under the proposed HDV/Lendlease development.

The new service charges would be for crowd control, security and cleaning up after matches. That could be a lot of money.

The spaces that Spurs want are for an outside broadcast unit, and a Fan Zone for people who don't have tickets for the stadium.  Quite a lot of land might be needed. Both of these would be in an area where the HDV wants to build housing blocks right up to the Stadium.

Spurs are being carved out on the East side.

At the same time, Haringey wants to help Spurs in the East, by way of moving the Aldridge Academy (formerly the Northumberland Park Community School) by knocking down council homes at Haynes Close, Charles Bradlaugh House and Robert Burns House, and building a new school there.

It's Spurs v Lendlease, both East and West of the Stadium.

Who knows which developer Haringey Council will support in the end?

While local people lose out through demolitions and forced gentrification, via higher house prices and rents.
