Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

There is a planning application for a massive development on the old gasworks site between Wood Green and Alexandra Palace. Consultation took place earlier in the year and showed building heights of up to 8 storeys, and 1,000 new flats. The application itself, however, shows 20 plus buildings of 15 storeys housing 1700 flats. The consultation proclaimed it would be 'car free' while the application shows underground car parking.
With no additional infrastructure, and roads already choked, cycle routes dangerous and buses, tubes and trains already bursting, this plan is wholly untenable. Alexandra Palace will be blighted by tower blocks right on the edge, and Victorian terraces will be completely overshadowed and overlooked right on their fence boundary. Any local views of the palace will disappear, and local services will be totally overwhelmed.

I'm shocked, shocked I tell you. I had no idea that they would do this.

It must be ten years since I saw the model in WG library, and three since British Gas held an exhibition in a local church hall. I am hoping that the planned square(s) will rectify our severe paucity of 'Mediterranean' restaurants.
