Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

THIS afternoon I managed to capture some shots – not of Finsbury Park in full flood, as that's been done before – but of a nascent pond/flood.

At between 15:00 and 15:30, some water was still flowing through the drain – lower centre above – but if there's more rain, this is likely to clog to create the pond we often see.
Flooding there is a chronic problem; it'd be great if there could be a permanent fix. Although the longest (western) side abuts Stroud Green Ward, technically, our Park is in Harringay Ward.

Surely something the council can afford to fix up using some of the income from the arctic monkeys and other concerts?

Wow. As you say a chronic problem - it's been doing that for years and never seems to get solved.
Today I was really struck by the water pouring off the American football section of the park onto the pavement where Green Lanes and Endymion road meet - if the drainage in that area ever got clogged there would be a major problem.

WELL, finally, the once-in-1,000 years event happened. It rained. It was an unpredictable force majeure.
And It was the wrong kind of rain. As usual, it happens in the middle of a London Cycle Route. Not only was the public inconvenienced today, but the flooding happened right in front of the entrance to the Fun Fair, due to open on Saturday.
The Council's customers were obliged to take urgent action themselves (pics this afternoon; click to enlarge).
Who looks after our park? The Council raises hundreds of thousands of pounds the back of our park: where does it go? Shouldn't more go on maintenance?
