Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Hi all.
last Sunday we found out that the organic farmer who sold vegetables at Falkland market won't come anymore because they couldn't reach their minimum goal of 40£ per week. The vegetables are all organics, grown locally (maybe not some fruits like bananas), absolutely not expensive (compared to organic vegetables from supermarkets and shops) and also very good. It's a pity that they won't come anymore.

We know that there is another farmers' market in Alexandra park but it is quite far.

What about the HoL community? Is there anyone interested in organic food?

Yes, I'm interested in organic food. I'm sorry to hear about the Falkland market organic farmer going. I've not managed to get myself to the market, but have been meaning to go. Do you think if some of us committed to buying a certain amount every week they'd return?

I only moved in a few weeks ago and have been spending all my time de

Hi Sophie,
in my understanding they are not going to come back. Maybe next year they will. Or we can try to go to the market and ask the manager to call the farmer to give it a try again. I guess that if we commit to buy a minimum of 40£ every week they will come back. I was used to spend around 10£ a week for the vegs. So I think it's not impossible to reach 40£ if we are enough.

Hmm, yes I'd be willing to commit to £10 per week on veg and fruit. I've tried weekly deliveries and stopped because I like to be able to pick and choose what I need for the week. Veg bags and boxes always end up sending stuff I'm not going to get through.

There's always the Crop Drop  veg bags you can collect from Blend (no connection other than a satisfied customer).

Andreas Michli on the corner of St Ann's Road and Salisbury Road also sells organic produce.

There's some great fruit and veg at Harringay Market too, which is down the side of Rutland Gardens (corner of Barclays) on Sundays. You should try that market and see what they have.

Thanks guys for your suggestions.

I'm really keen to sign up to Crop Drop, but I'm not sure I could ever get to Blend before closing time!  My current work schedule means I can work from home sometimes, but I start a new job in the new year and I don't think it will be as flexible.  We'll see!

Yes but they close at 6pm don't they?  I wouldn't want to leave the veg until Saturday.

I don't know if it's still the same as I haven't done it for a while, but the collection point at the Big Green Bookshop used to be outdoors and you could access it any time. Probably not as local though...
