Peckham Butcher Keeps Crouch End Moving after Head-on Smash

At around midday today a head-on collision on Broadway right outside Hornsey Town Hall threatened to bring Crouch End to a standstill, but quick-thinking butcher, Trevor from Peckham, saved us all from gridlock.

The head-on collision happened on the southbound lane of the main thoroughfare through Crouch End. According to the passenger travelling in the car that was hit, the elderly driver of the other car appeared to be in severe distress and he thinks he may have suffered a black-out or some other medical distress.

Although both cars were tightly locked together and emergency services attended the scene there were no apparent injuries.

Whilst all eyes were on the accident scene, my focus was on Butcher Trevor. With one lane blocked, busy traffic on this main road was threatened with gridlock. Trevor had just been passing through and was behind the car that was hit. He jumped out and started controlling traffic with a consumate skill and a no-nonsense manner that allowed no dissent.  (Sadly my picture was hurriedly snapped and singularly fails to capture his command of the situation)

Goodonya Trevor, he did a great job and kept traffic flowing for the fifteen minutes or so it took police to arrive.  I couldn't stop and talk to him as I was o my way to an appointment - but thank you Trevor!
