yes but it depends where you live     I can recommend the chinese restaurant in Park Road, Crouch End   they do buffet lunch on Sunday and a cheap 2course lunch during the week   service and the food are good and the latter inexpensive       sorry can't remember the name   SallyM

We ate at the delightfully retro Jade Palace on Crouch End Broadway a few months back and were pleasantly surprised. It's not knock your socks off good, but it serves decently cooked classic high street chinese food. (It has a thumbs-up from my fussy Chinese Malaysian other half). I haven't had take away from there, but it's worth a try.

If you fancy going pan-asian you could try Tootoomoo in Crouch end

More locally there's a Vietnamese option -  Hanoi Pho. I haven't eaten there but there are some reviews on it elsewhere on the site.

Let us know what you end up ordering and what you thought of it.

sorry, should have added that the Park Rd Chinese do take away

thanks both for your replies i will report back with findings

Don't go to the one on Green Lanes, it's awful.

i tried it before, i have been trying to forget about it ever since, it was bad bad bad

Penang express on Turnpike Lane is great. Especially the crispy duck! Yum!

Another vote for Jade Palace in Crouch End Broadway, the staff are lovely too. We generally get takeaway and the portions are generous. Prefer to Dragon on Park Road for that.

There's another option I haven't tried - Zing-Zing on Blackstock Road. Anyone tried that?

Yes, it's a bit hit and miss. The last time I ordered my King pao chicken was inedible (they'd put in a mountain of salt).

me and everyone i know is wild for zing zing. we have ordered it SO OFTEN.

Crispy beef, the squid, the miso aubergine.. it's incredible. Recommended.

Jade Palace is where we get take away from, it's quite good but can be a bit greasy at times. Also the chili dishes are spicy which is not always the case with Chinese.
