Vartry Road is quiet, residential with friendly neighbours, but is very close to the lively Haringey warehouse district (galleries, bar, event spaces). 
Stamford Hill Station is at the end of the road with a direct line to Liverpool Street (trains every 15 mins). Manor House tube station (Zone 2 Piccadilly line) is a short walk (or 3 bus stops). There is free car parking in the street (i. e. not CPZ). There are lots of buses including the 253, 254, 279, 259, 149, 243, 67, 76, 476, most of which are night buses.

There is a 24 hour grocery shop/off licence 5 mins walk away on Seven Sisters Road that has pretty much anything you need, and several nearby cafes, coffee shops and take-aways. Close to Stoke Newington, and Finsbury Park - Dalston is pretty easy to reach too. Finsbury Park which has track sports if you're sporty, or two pretty decent cafes & boating lake if that appeals. Woodberry Wetland nature reserve is round the corner as and the Castle indoor climbing centre is within walking distance.

Springfield Park and the River Lea/Hackney Marshes open space also nearby - there's an ice rink here and (unbelievably!) even riding stables. they supply the horses. There are gyms and two libraries within easy walking distance.
