Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Exhibition runs daily 22 - 27th June 2017. 10-5pm daily exc Monday 11-5pm.

Macuacua was born in Mozambique. His artistic career began at Maputo School of Fine Art where after graduating as a student of honour, he then went on illustrate children’s books with Professor artist Brazilian Zirald Pinto.
Since childhood Macuacua has loved drawing, painting and making ceramic objects, especially using art as a medium to inspire children. He has also exhibited his work extensively in single and collective shows both in Mozambique, South America and Europe.

His ideas, conveyed through figurative pictures and prints, depict eccentricity and a subversive take on life. His paintings portray movement and action - they celebrate being alive - whilst his bright colours are those of his people as they look forward to the future. The prints he produces often exude sexual suggestion through angular images of black and white dancing jezebels in a domestic setting.

Currently Macuacua is developing a very distinctive style using Printmaking Techniques such as: Collage Blocks, Linocut, Lithography, Dry point, Monoprint, Woodcut, Intaglio printing, Etching, Organic Sculptures, Photography and Installations
