Our Yin Yoga classes consists of a series of long-held, passive (still) and seated floor poses that mainly work the lower part of the body—the hips, pelvis, inner thighs, lower spine. These areas are especially rich in connective tissues. If our connective tissue is not stimulated, it can become hard and even crystallised, this can lead to stiffness and staggered energy flow. Unlike vinyasa based yoga, Yin yoga postures - asanas - are held for longer periods of time—for beginners, it may range from 45 seconds to two minutes; more advanced practitioners may stay in one asana for five minutes or more.
Yin yoga is great for the mind, but also great for flexibility, relaxation and overall well being. Yin Yoga stimulates our meridians ( energy channels), the same lines that are targeted in acupuncture and acupressure, and by stimulating these lines we work on releasing stagnated energy which is important for your overall well being.
Yin yoga can be used to heal the body and mind from inside out.
Regular practitioners might feel a little happier in the morning, be a bit more flexible on the dance-floor and after a few sessions they start to sparkle.*
*Kind off . Health benefits include; improved circulation, increased flexibility and a calmer more clear mind.
As you lie to rest in your final savasna after the yin yoga practice you will be guided on a musical journey by a selection of Tibetian and crystal singing bowls. The gentle sound vibrations will tickle your qi and release any stagnated energy and waken your chakras. Leave feeling nourished and relaxed.
