Groundwork London, in partnership with Haringey council, is launching a new exhibition to showcase photographs of natural art created by visitors to Haringey’s Parks and green spaces as part of the Natural Art Competition, which ran over summer 2015.
The exhibition will be open to the public from Friday 27th November at the Hub Café, Lordship Recreation Ground, Tottenham N17 6NU. For enquiries, please contact firstname.lastname@example.org.
Groundwork London, in partnership with Haringey Parks Department, has been running a programme of activities and events which aim to encourage people to spend more time in their local parks. Parks are vital community resources, playing an increasingly important role in health and well-being and in cultivating a real sense of community.
The Haringey Parks Programme sought creative ways of engaging people of all ages, and attracting new users to the parks. The Natural Art Competition ran over the summer of 2015, and asked anyone who visited a Haringey Park to create a temporary work of art using only the natural materials which they found there. It was a free activity, a means of celebrating our green spaces, and a real opportunity for local residents to get smaller green spaces on the map.
The photographs have been judged by Sarah Jones, Events & Partnerships Manager at Haringey Parks & Leisure Services; Robert Waite, Curator at Bruce Castle Museum; and Julia Clarke, a local artist. Prizes will be awarded to the top 3 at a Private View event on Thursday 26th November.
The exhibition is open to the public at Lordship Recreation Ground until January 2016, when it will be moving on to Albert Recreation Ground.
